VidToon 2.0 vs 2.1: What Changed and What You Get Today

Disclosure: ReviewEpic earns a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. We have not tested VidToon hands-on. This comparison is based on VidToon’s sales page, help centre, 2.1 feature blog, ClickBank checkout and AppSumo founder replies, checked 6 Nov 2026. It does not change how we describe the product. How we review · Affiliate disclosure

Short answer: If you buy VidToon on ClickBank today, the sales page sells VidToon 2.1, not a separate 2.0 SKU. 2.1 adds video import (your files plus Pixabay), split/cut, more timeline controls, personal fonts and alignment tools that 2.0 did not have, per VidToon’s own feature post.

Best for: buyers who want a one-time desktop 2D animation app and care whether video import and denser timeline edits are included.
Not for: anyone who needs a phone, iPad or Chromebook app, or a free trial before paying.
Main limitation: still desktop/laptop only (Windows min i5/8GB RAM or Mac); the sales page says 30-day risk-free while ClickBank’s order form lists 60 days.
Price checked 6 Nov 2026: $49 one-time on the sales page (struck “$67/Month”); ClickBank checkout for India showed ₹5,161.68 + ₹929.10 tax = ₹6,090.78, recurring false, refundDaysLimit 60.

Google still suggests both “vidtoon 2.0” and “vidtoon 2.1”. Older AppSumo threads talk about 2.0; the live ClickBank offer says 2.1. Here is what changed, what you get if you buy now, and which limits stayed put. For the full product rundown see our VidToon 2.1 overview; for trial and download questions see VidToon free download.

What VidToon 2.1 added

VidToon’s own post, “Vidtoon 2.1 Is LIVE”, lists the changes that matter most for buyers who still see “2.0” in older reviews:

  • Video import and Pixabay videos – the clearest gap vs 2.0. You can bring footage into the project or pull commercial-free Pixabay clips from a search bar (high or low quality).
  • Split and cut – trim long clips on the timeline without rebuilding the whole project by hand.
  • Richer transitions – pick colours per transition, and place transitions on the timeline (not only between scenes).
  • Personal fonts – import fonts already installed on your computer.
  • Master scene, extra tracks, timeline zoom, duration control – keep a logo, soundtrack or main character across scenes, and edit denser timelines.
  • Alignment, multi-select, transparent canvas, resource rename/delete – layout and asset-management tools the vendor lists as new in 2.1.

The affiliate / JV page still pitches the same core library numbers: 100 HD backgrounds, 25 HD characters with 20 animations each, 150+ royalty-free tracks, plus Google text-to-speech and voiceover import. Those assets ship with the current 2.1 package. They are not a reason to hunt an old 2.0 installer.

What did not change

The version bump does not remove the buying constraints we flagged in the overview:

  • Desktop only. The sales page says Windows (min i5 / 8GB RAM) or Mac OS. It cannot run on iPads, phones or Chromebooks. AppSumo founder replies repeat the same device limit.
  • One-time front-end price. Live copy: struck “$67/Month” vs “$49 One Time Payment” for VidToon 2.1. Commercial rights are included in that offer language. Separate funnel products (VidToon Club, Voicely, Streamr, Reseller) are upsells, not the 2.0→2.1 difference.
  • No free trial. There is still no trial download. The refund window is the try-before-you-commit path – see our free-download notes.
  • Refund lines still disagree. Sales page: “Risk-Free For 30 Days.” ClickBank order form (cbitems=50, checked 6 Nov 2026): refundDaysLimit 60, recurring false. Plan for the shorter vendor line until support confirms which one applies to your order.

If you already own 2.0

We did not find a public “pay to upgrade 2.0 → 2.1” SKU on the lifetime page. Existing owners should check the member area or email support@vidtoon.com for their licence path. On AppSumo, a founder reply dated 15 May 2024 said VidToon 2.1 users would get VidToon 3 for free and that the commercial licence is included – that is a vendor statement about a future version, not something we verified in-app.

FAQ

Can I still buy VidToon 2.0?

Not through the live ClickBank lifetime page we checked on 6 Nov 2026. That page sells VidToon 2.1. Older AppSumo or review pages that say “2.0” are describing an earlier release, not a second checkout we could open today.

Is VidToon 2.1 worth the same $49 as older 2.0 deals?

You get more editing tools for the same one-time front-end price the sales page shows now. “Worth it” still means you need a desktop cartoon/explainer tool and can live with no trial plus the refund-line mismatch. We have not produced sample videos ourselves, so this is not a hands-on quality verdict.

Does 2.1 include a commercial licence?

The sales page offer block says commercial rights are included with the current 2.1 purchase. Treat that as vendor copy and keep your ClickBank receipt. Licence questions for client work should go to support before you publish client deliverables.

How is this different from whiteboard tools like InstaDoodle?

VidToon is a 2D character animation desktop app. InstaDoodle and similar tools target whiteboard-style videos. See our InstaDoodle vs Doodly vs VideoScribe comparison if that style fits better.

Bottom line

Buying VidToon today means buying 2.1. The useful upgrades over 2.0 are video import, Pixabay clips, split/cut and a denser timeline – not a new price tier. The limits that stop people (desktop only, no trial, 30- vs 60-day refund wording) are still there. Read the overview for the full catch list, then decide.
