Founded in 2010, WP Engine is a company specially-tailored around, as the name suggests, creating and hosting WordPress-based websites. Although they are a rather recent entry in the web hosting business, they do however manage to cater to a very specific – and large – wpengine-logoclientele. Lately, the WordPress-based websites have experienced a considerable boom, and in a matter of only a few years, the number of WordPress websites has doubled itself.  Therefore, WP Engine comes in handy in times that the supply surprisingly isn’t enough to satisfy the demand. So much so that their cheapest hosting package is only $30 (Click HERE to get 60% OFF and start with WP Engine). You’ll see in a second why this price shouldn’t scare you off, so bear with me!

WP Engine Review

WP Engine aims to take care of the 3 main “S” issues that usually appear with any website: Speed, Security and Scalability. At first, their $30 per month hosting offer may seem a bit off-track and definitely unworthy, as rival companies offer the same services for under $10 (Check out best 5 cheap hosting company). However, unlike said rival companies, you’ll find that WP Engine might be able to help you better getting traffic and generate decent revenue from your site fairly quickly.

I personally used their services for 3 months back in 2015. What I noticed was that the site I built with them was VERY fast and responsive. These two are very important factors to bear in mind; not only do they keep the bounce rate low, but ever since 2012, the big G (Google) has included site speed into their ranking algorithm. So, if you want to hit the first page, your site has to be very speedy as well, aside from ranking factors like great content, social signals and on-page SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Online retail giant, Amazon, themselves claimed that their sales increased by 1% for every 100 milliseconds they decreased their loading time.

Bottom line, if your website is slow, your business will be drastically affected. WP Engine, for only $30 per month, can help you better the loading speeds of your website by a massive margin.

WPEngine Review: My Experience

When I created my website with them in 2015, I noticed the huge versatility and reliability of their services. Everything is truly made around WordPress, and the process of creating the actual website was the easiest one I had ever went through. In the admin panel, you can simply push a button to create a staging area in no time. This staging area is very useful if you want to test themes and designs a priori. Furthermore, if you know anything about PHP, you are aware that deleting just one little line of code will mess up your whole site. The staging area allows you to make changes on a site copy, then if you’re content with the result, publish it live on your site.

5 WP Engine Plans

On top of that, WP Engine also automatically deals with plugin caching. This happens because WP Engine caches absolutely everything, so you don’t have to use third party plugins such as WP Super Cache and/or W3 Total Cache. This doesn’t mean they are not amazing plugins, it’s just that sometimes plugins can perform worse than better, and I personally would like to avoid any undue burden.

When it comes to the page loading time, I noticed that WP Engine could easily load it in a matter of only 4 seconds. It’s a pretty brilliant and, quite frankly, expected result.

Their customer support is top-notch. When you pay $30 for a service, you obviously expect to be treated accordingly. They do not fail to comply. I’ve always had an amazing time talking to them over live chat, e-mail and twitter. Back then, I was not very WP-savvy so I needed a lot of supplementary guidance of course, and they were nothing but eager to help me throughout. I am actually very surprised that they managed to be so noob-friendly and not blind me with science.

WP Engine Review: The Bad Sides

As you may have noticed, I have not covered any downsides of this company till now. They do have some, but they’re so insignificant that I did not care to create a special heading for two main disadvantages. First of all, they do not allow SSH access. Secondly, they do not have support for e-mail, which, depending on case-to-case situations, may or may not present problems. I, quite frankly, was not bothered by neither the lack of SSH access nor e-mail support.

WP Engine Review Conclusion

This hosting company is ideal for small-to-medium-sized businesses, and personal blogs alike. In terms of maximum traffic your website will be able to house, you’ll do fine with a few thousand unique visitors per day. We do encourage you put this company to many tests – they have not failed to satisfy me till now whatsoever!
