- Should You Sign Up with Netmoly?
In this review, I’ll be covering a great web hosting company called Netmoly that comes to par with my stringent requirements. They were founded in 2013, making them quite a new entry to the market, but they have managed to provide unprecedented web hosting services at a very affordable price as you’ll see later on in this review. I would first like to cover all the major hosting plans Netmoly provide.
Netmoly provide three key shared hosting plans: Standard, Deluxe and Enterprise. The Standard plan comes packed with 100 GB worth of disk space and monthly bandwidth, a single domain name entry in your account and 25 MySQL databases.
The following two plans, on the other hand, offer unmetered disk space, monthly bandwidth, MySQL databases and domain name entries. While they do cost a bit more than the Standard plan, it is worth opting for one of them if you wish to have full control over your plan and expect a lot of daily traffic to your website. All three plans include cPanel access, SSL certificates and unlimited email accounts and storage.
If you want to have even more control over your server and, implicitly, website, then you would be better off considering a VPS plan instead of Shared. As with shared hosting, there are a total of three plans you can choose from, namely Lite, Pro and Ultimate. The disk space ranges from 60 to 140 GB and memory from 2 to 8 GB. All plans come packed with two dedicated IP addresses, cPanel and/or WHM access and free setup by one of their staff members if technicalities overwhelm you. I personally believe that, out of all the web hosting plans in the box, VPS hosting offers the best price/quality ratio.
If you’re a webmaster or simply own a resource-demanding business, then dedicated hosting will probably be the best choice for you. However, I would first like to lecture you as to the cases in which it is worth opting for a dedicated hosting plan before covering the features Netmoly provide.
First of all, I’ve seen many, many people over the course of years who have simply ended up overpaying for a dedicated hosting plan when a shared server could have easily done the job as well. Some of them realized it in due time, whereas other people still overpay to this day. For you not to commit the same mistake, here’s some key pieces of advice:
Buy a dedicated hosting plan if:
- you expect more than a thousand visitors per day;
- you plan on storing a lot of data into your personal server;
- your site is already an authority one – not just because you believe it will get big someday;
Don’t buy a dedicated hosting plan if:
- you have a simple blog – you’ll surely not need 16 GB of RAM to run and operate it;
- you don’t have a consistent budget – we’re talking about hundreds of dollars due to pay per month;
- you want to boast – it’d be a wasted server;
Bearing those key points in mind, let’s see what Netmoly have in the box for you. All of their dedicated hosting plans comprise 8 to 32 GB of RAM, 4 to 20 cores, WHM interface, built-in IPMI to have full control over your server without always having to resort to contacting Netmoly for the slightest issue and, obviously, the advantage of being in control of your very own server.
First off, it’d be highly commendable to be aware that Netmoly’s shared hosting plans are slightly more expensive than other companies’. But as with most expensive things in life, quality is most of the times ensured, and the same thing goes for Netmoly. I personally found that their shared servers were more than decent, encompassing lots of advantages and bonuses, all the while managing to keep the servers stable, which is quite an issue with other hosts. That’s a plus not to be overlooked.
VPS Hosting Reliability
IMHO, you cannot go wrong with any VPS hosting plan offered by any host as these servers are usually more independent, better taken care of and properly managed by any host who respects its clients. However, as with Shared Hosting, the VPS plans they offer are a bit more expensive than what it is to be found elsewhere, and rightfully so, since, with any package you choose, you receive unique in-house add-ons, such as WHMXtra and Silver Domain Reseller Account.
Dedicated Hosting Reliability
It goes without saying that dedicated hosting is probably the most reliable, secure and customizable of all hosting plans available on the market, so much so that it offers full control over a server that you can literally do anything with. I have not tried nor heard much about the dedicated servers Netmoly rent, but I can take a wild guess and say that they do a good job at physically maintaining it.
- Undoubtedly a premium hosting provider
My trial share-hosted website with them worked like a charm. During my first month, they abode by their 99.99% uptime guarantee, which was very nice. In order to test how the website itself performed, I decided to use a third party website called Bitcatcha to load it from different parts of the world. From the eight locations I manually chose, the website scored an impressive “A” grade. No reproach to make.
- SLA-backed uptime guarantee
Lately, it’s become a trend for web hosting companies to provide ambiguous SLAs that customers end up not benefiting from because, well, they were not designed to cover anyone but themselves in the first place. That is not the case with Netmoly. Their SLA clearly states that if they fail to provide 99.99% uptime or above, you get your money back. That is very straightforward and definitely not trying to scam anyone. Do bear in mind that this SLA only applies to shared hosting accounts.
- No Renewal Price Tricks
Over the course of time, I’ve gotten used to seeing many and many web hosts trying to sell hosting plans for a heavily discounted price for the first month or year, only to wake up one day that they charged you 75% more than you initially paid. Netmoly, on the other hand, do not resort to such misleading techniques. The price you pay for the first month is the same you will pay the next year, too, unless specified otherwise.
- Drag-and-Drop Site Builder
Aside from the one-click installation CMS software they provide with any plan, they also allow you to build your own website with the aid of an in-house site builder which encompasses over 150 custom templates, navigation menus and web designs.
The only bad thing I could find about Netmoly was the unmentioned resource limitations on shared web hosting, although this is really a disadvantage to be found at any host. They claim to offer unmetered disk space and bandwidth, which normally implies you can use as many resources as you want, but in reality, you will probably be sanctioned or even banned from using their services if you do that, so be careful.
As you can see, the advantages of this company largely outweigh the disadvantages. Everything from their hosting plans, features, bonuses and customer support is great if you can afford paying the price.
If your websites’re currently hosted at Netmoly, please tell us your experience with Netmoly on the comment session below. Thank you!
