InMotion Hosting is a company founded in 2001, and for many years it’s managed to gather many positive reviews, as well as CNET and BBB (Better Business Bureau) certifications, thus making it a very reliable company. Its offer includes but is not limited to Shared, VPS and Dedicated Server hosting. The company is largely preferred by small-sized business and blog owners who need a reliable and affordable solution for their projects.
When it comes to my personal experience with InMotion Hosting, I must say that they are absolutely excellent and do not regret having spent a fair amount of money with them. I chose them for their inexpensive shared hosting plan, and although I chose to host a WordPress-based website, which was pretty resource-demanding, I did not experience any kind of issues with them whatsoever. Most of you would disagree with regard to their cost, being indeed a little bit more expensive than other popular choices such as Godaddy Hosting or BlueHost, but they offer significantly better perks than the said rival companies do. Let’s delve more into their offer.
InMotion Hosting Review: Main Hosting Plans
As you’re probably already accustomed with, InMotion Hosting offer 3 distinct shared hosting plans. While they are almost identical to each other, they do have some noteworthy differences which vary, of course, depending on the price.
The first plan is “Launch”, and only allows for 6 domains to be added at once, having only 2 MySQL databases. (Click HERE to claim 59% OFF for all Inmotion Hosting plans)
The second plan is entitled “Power” and allows for a whopping 26 plans to be added to the account, and another whopping 50 MySQL databases.
The third plan and the most advanced of all is called “Pro” and has an unlimited-everything policy. In my honest opinion, the Power plan offers the most advantageous quality/price ratio. While the unlimited-everything offer given by the “Pro” plan is indeed very attractive, it is very unlikely for you to ever need more than 6 domains at once and 50 MySQL databases, as anything beyond that is bound to cause a lot of stability problems.
Additionally, each shared hosting plan offers SSD drives, data backup, one-click installer tool, Max Speed Zone, SSH access, PostageSQL, MySQL, Ruby and PHP. If you already have a website built through another company, InMotion will help you out for free, which is not an industry-standard practice.
Can you easily set up a website through InMotion?
It is fairly easy if you have worked with cPanel and, implicitly, Softaculous before. If you have not and are only used to building websites through independent website builders offered by the respective hosting companies, it does not present a problem at all, as spending a mere 10 minutes learning the ropes will suffice.
With Softaculous, you are able to one-click install WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and other popular forum and e-commerce scripts available within the same software. The installation process does not require any technical knowledge at all and it is likely for it to only last a few minutes at most.
It is also highly commendable to make it very clear that your domain and hosting account won’t be available to use on payment completion. It’ll take some time, mostly within hours, for your domain to “propagate” on the Internet, which is a standard process and by no means InMotion Hosting-exclusive. Additionally, depending on your location, you’ll be required to confirm your identity with them by sending them copies of your legal documents. If you’re not OK with this, even though you may already be aware that it is a common practice in this industry for obvious reasons, we suggest you do not subscribe to any of their services, since there is no workaround to this.
InMotion Hosting Review: Website Builder
Unfortunately, InMotion do not offer any possibility to build websites via their own website builder tool, since they do not have any. Consequently, you’ll have to set up a WordPress, Joomla or Drupal installation if you wish to create your website, or if you already have your own website built, upload the HTML website to the account via FTP and it’ll work just fine.
Free Website Transfer
Unlike other hosting providers, InMotion don’t charge any fee to transfer your website over to their servers. You’ll have to contact their support and let them know you have a website ready to be transferred and they’ll be glad to help you with it.
Domain Registration with Inmotion Hosting
As customary, every shared hosting plan comes with a one-year free domain name. It’ll automatically be added to the hosting control panel. If you want more than one domain name, you will still get one for free, but each additional one will cost you around $10 extra. Bear in mind the limitations your hosting plan has before buying a dozen of them.
InMotion and e-Commerce
You can easily build an e-Commerce site with InMotion through the provided control panel. The Softaculous script installer will guide you through the whole process. There are over 30 e-Commerce scripts to consider, such as: Magento, AlbanetCart, OpenCart, Prestashop, WHMCS, CubeCart etc.
IMPORTANT: The “Launch” plan does not come packed with any of the aforementioned e-commerce scripts, therefore is not e-Commerce-ready. The other two plans do have this option.
InMotion and WordPress
InMotion have long been known to offer fully-customizable WordPress options, and my experience with them with regard to this aspect has not be dissatisfying at all. They offer WordPress hosting service that comes packed with WP-CLI, which allows you to manage multiple websites from the command line. WordPress will automatically be installed on your domain upon successful signup and payment, so you don’t even have to worry about not being able to install it.
InMotion and Joomla
Although I’m not very familiar with Joomla since all of the websites I have created till now are WordPress-based, I still decided to give it a try just for the sake of seeing how it performs with InMotion. The experience was, again, not bad at all, the site built using Joomla performing very well at extraordinary speeds. Most hosting companies undermine the qualities of other platforms and completely focus on WordPress tools, but InMotion did take their time to create videos and tutorials explaining in-depth how to get started with this rather unknown platform, which is to be appreciated a lot.
90-Day Money Back Guarantee
Even though they are not the first company to offer such lasting money back guarantee, they are definitely among the few to do so with shared hosting. Personally, when I see a company so confident about their services, I instantly subscribe to one of their services; InMotion is not an exception at all.
InMotion Hosting Review: Conclusion and Personal Thoughts
The folks at InMotion do seem to have a great offer going around, and reviews suggest that they have not gone rogue at all in the recent period. Rarely have I seen such positive reviews being given to a company, and, if I were you, I’d really take these reviews for granted.
